Donavon L. Schaper, 81, of Kenyon, died Sunday, May 29, 2011 at the Kenyon Sunset Home. He was born May 17, 1930 in Rome Township, Minnesota the son of Frederick and Edna (Yahnke) Shaper. He attended rural school in Bricelyn, MN. In 1944 he moved with his family to Kenyon and graduated from Kenyon High School in 1947. When Donavon was younger he was an over the road truck driver, and in his later years he worked for Kielmeyer Construction. He liked visiting with friends and family, being outdoors and never lost the desire to travel and see new and interesting places. He enjoyed gardening, bird watching, hunting, fishing, and helping his friends with farm work. Donavon enjoyed collecting guns and owned a nice collection. He is survived by sister, Wallene Joyner of California, sister in law Marilyn Schaper of Kenyon, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Duane and Marlo Schaper, and nephew Mitch Schaper. Visitation will be at the United Methodist Church/Kenyon on Saturday June 4, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Saturday June 4, 2011 at 11:00 AM at United Methodist Church/Kenyon with Reverend Dana Houck and Reverend Nancy Edwardson co-officiating. Interment will be in the Kenyon Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Kenyon United Methodist Church, Kenyon Cemetery or the donor''s choice. Michaelson Funeral Home of Kenyon is handling arrangements.
