Donna Marie Frederick, 77, of Owatonna, died Friday, July 12, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Donna was born November 10, 1935 in Rochester, Minnesota the daughter of Albert and Laura (Larson) Christopherson. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1953, and then worked at the Mayo Clinic for several years. Donna married Mel Frederick on June 3, 1956 at the Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester, and they subsequently made their home in West Concord. There, Donna worked, for some time, as the school secretary for the West Concord Elementary School and Mel owned and operated the town''s Super Valu Store. In 1981, the couple moved to Owatonna. Donna was a devoted wife, stay at home mother, and grandmother devoting her life to her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a constant companion with Mel during his years as Senator. Donna had a passion for travel and was fortunate to be able to travel all over the world many of which were family trips. Donna loved all creative endeavors, such as flowers and decorating, and was an excellent cook. She also enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Kenyon Country Club, Dodge Center Country Club and the Founder''s Club at the Owatonna Country Club. Donna was a dedicated member of the local Bridge Club, the Domestic Science Club and volunteered as a greeter at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester for over twenty years. She is survived by her husband, Mel Frederick of Owatonna; three children, Mitch (and Debra) Frederick of Rochester, Debra Stadsklev of Bermuda Dunes, CA, and Mike (and Julie) Frederick of Eden Prairie; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth, Laura, and Hans Frederick, Lindsey and Eric Stadsklev, and Adam, Dylan, and Samantha Frederick; sister, Betty Kraayenbrink of Rochester; sister-in-law, Betty Williams of Rochester; nieces and nephews; and beloved family pet, Ozzy which they acquired from the Humane Society. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Bob and Clayton Chistopherson, and sister, Virginia Spettel Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna on Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 19, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Owatonna with Julie Malone officiating. Memorials are preferred to Steele County Humane Society or Smile Train.
