Doris E. Hunt, 89, of Owatonna, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Timberdale Trace.

Doris was born July 29, 1937, in Hope, Minnesota, to Edward Sr. and Margaret (Kubicek) Haberman. She graduated from Ellendale High School in 1955 and married Donald Hunt on February 16, 1957. Together, they shared a long life raising their four children: Dale, Doug, Dean, and Diann.

Doris never missed a sporting event for any of her children and later loved spoiling her grandchildren. She was caring, generous, and always willing to help anyone in a heartbeat. When her children were young, summer afternoons meant trips to Beaver Lake to swim, whether the weather was hot or cold. If it was nice out, everyone was at the lake. She also enjoyed coffee breaks with the neighbors. Family vacations were a cherished tradition, including trips up north to the headwaters of the Mississippi River and the Iron Range. In later years, she and Don enjoyed beach vacations in Florida and Hawaii, where Doris loved collecting seashells.

Doris loved the holidays and decorated for nearly everyone, but Christmas was always her favorite. She took special care to make sure everyone had the same number of gifts and loved having them opened one at a time so she could see each one.

Doris enjoyed cooking and baking and her scotcheroos and divinity were family favorites. She loved snowbirding in Texas, attending bluegrass festivals, sewing, and reading. She and Don often went for drives in the convertible, stopping at antique shops along the way. An avid collector, she especially loved Depression-era glassware and also collected irons and cookie jars.

Doris is survived by her husband, Donald; her four children, Dale (Allexx) Hunt, Doug (Jackie) Hunt, Dean (Julie) Hunt, and Diann (Randy) Ptacek; grandchildren, Nick Pitan, Samantha (Todd) Doyon, Jacob (Nicole) Hunt, Nate (Jodie) Hunt, and Sara Ptacek; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Wilma Haberman and Karen Hunt; and many nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Edward Haberman Jr., Marie Carroll, Roselyn Blazek, Eugene Haberman, and David Haberman; two grandchildren Joshua Holland and Ariana Ptacek; and brother-in-law, John Hunt.

Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church in Lemond Township. Visitation will be 4-7 PM on Wednesday at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna, and continues at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
