Obituary

Doris L. Huset, 84, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at her home. She was born May 9, 1925 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of Ira and Olga (Locklund) Burke. Doris graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis in 1943, and attended one year at the University of Minnesota, when she got a job at a bank in South Minneapolis, which began a long career in the banking business. She met her future husband Louie Huset at a roller skating rink, which began a lifetime of love. They were married October 19, 1946 and moved to Owatonna when Louie took a job with the city of Owatonna Engineering Department. Dorie was employed at the Owatonna Savings and Loan, which later merged with People's Savings. She held various positions, including loan officer, vice president, and branch manager. When Louie was called into active duty with the Navy, they were stationed in Puerto Rico, and the Great Lakes for a few years. The couple shared many vacations, holidays, and family reunions with their family. Family and church were the most important things to Dorie. She was active in the First Baptist Church in Owatonna, where she taught Sunday school, played in the bell choir, and served in various capacities. She was a member of the Christian Women's Club, Owatonna Women's Club, Eagles, TOPS, and Senior Center. She is survived by her husband Louis Huset of Owatonna; son, Larry (and Patsy) Huset of Costa Mesa, CA, daughter Patty Huset of Faribault; grandchildren Elizabeth, Samantha, and Anna Dwinnell, and Caryn Huset. She is also survived by one sister Evon (Dan) Boyer of Brooksville, Fl., and many other family members. Her parents and one brother Russell Burke preceded her in death. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday May 9, 2010 from 3-5 PM and at First Baptist Church on Monday from 10-11 AM. Funeral service will be held Monday May 10, 2010 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church with Reverend Cindy Halvorson officiating. Interment will be in the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the First Baptist Church, Owatonna Hospice, or the donor''s choice.
