Doris Marie Kern, 82, of West Concord, died Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital. Doris was born November 7, 1929 in Blue Earth, Minnesota, the daughter of Raymond and Daisy (Parker) Schuler. She moved with her family to Ellendale where she attended school. Doris then worked for AW, Josten''s and also at Woolworth''s in Owatonna. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Kern on June 14, 1951 at Christ The King Catholic Church. They made their home near Moland where the couple farmed. While helping on the farm, Doris enjoyed being a homemaker, raising her children, watching her grandchildren, baking and gardening. She served as a 4-H leader for over 15 years and received the Outstanding Leader award for 4-H. Doris had a way of making everyone feel special. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Lloyd Kern of West Concord; children, Jerry (and Linda) Kern of West Concord; Marilyn (and Trish Moudry) Kern of Mendota Heights; Darold (and Bonnie) Kern of Colorado Springs; Barbara (and Alcid) DeMars of Tucson; Allen (and Bonita) Kern of Faribault; Carol Olson of Faribault; two sisters, Genevieve (and Norbert) Bice of Owatonna; Evelyn Schroeder of Hickory, NC; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, two sisters and a grandson, Adam DeMars. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday, July 20, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Christ The King Catholic Church with Father Robert Herman officiating. Interment will be in the Resurrection Cemetery in Medford.
