Obituary

Doris (Larson) Kraay, 90, of Owatonna, died Sunday, April 26, 2015 at the Owatonna Hospital. Doris was born November 12, 1924 in Riceland Township, Freeborn Co, Minnesota the daughter of Nels and Hannah (Peterson) Larson. She was raised in Lerdal, Minnesota and graduated from Alden High School. She was united in marriage to Jochem J.C. Kraay on May 22, 1943 in Clarks Grove. J.C. served in the armed forces and after his service began farming near Hollandale. In 1956, he began farming with his brothers and formed Kraay Bros. Vegetable Farm in Owatonna. The couple moved to Owatonna in 1961. In 1976, J.C. joined his son David in Tonna Heating and Cooling and Doris worked in the office. The couple made their home in Green Valley, AZ and would summer in Owatonna. They moved back to Owatonna in 2007. J.C. died in 2009. She is survived by two sons, David (and Leigh Ann) Kraay of Owatonna, Tim Kraay of Loveland, CO; daughter, Debbie (and Kevin) Grose of Owatonna; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. (2009); two sons, Ronald Kraay; Michael Kraay; two daughters, Barbara Kraay and Joan Marie Kraay; a great grandson, Aaron Kraay; her parents; and her siblings, Annie; Emma; Vanda; Ella; Vivian; Ray and Gilbert. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Cindy Halvorson officiating. Interment will be in the Clarks Grove Baptist Cemetery.
