Doris Emma Masche, 91, of Owatonna, died Friday, January 1, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester. She was born November 24, 1924 in Steele Center the daughter of Edward and Jocelyn (Thom) Guse. Doris attended country school before working at the Owatonna Canning Company. During WWII she worked for Jostens making bomb sights and polishing rings. She married Walter C. Masche Feb 9, 1946 at St. John Lutheran Church. The couple lived their entire life together in Merton Township. They farmed together until retiring in 1995. Walter preceded Doris in death in 2000. Doris was Treasurer of District 79 of Merton Township during 1949-1950. She was the co-chair of Steele Waseca SWIRE, a member of ladies community clubs, 50 year member M-M Farmers Union serving on the board for 25 years and 2nd V.P. of Harvest Food Co-op in Owatonna. Doris enjoyed gardening, baking, canning, crocheting, embroidering and Hardanger of which she entered many finished products in the Steele County Free Fair. She also enjoyed playing cards and dice, mowing the lawn and playing croquet with her grandchildren. She is survived by son, Walter K. (and Le Ann) Masche of Owatonna; daughters, Wanda (and Roger) Meyerhofer of Owatonna, Doreen (and Steve) Monson of Owatonna; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Sidney (and Muriel) Guse of Seattle, WA; sister, Sharon Nelson of Denver, CO and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter C. Masche and sister, Lorinda Lucas. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3pm to 6pm and on Wednesday from 1pm to 2pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 2pm at Michaelson Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
