Doris Schmidt passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the age of 88, at Birchwood Cottages in Owatonna. Doris was born on December 9, 1937, to parents Anna (Wendell) and Edward Luedloff in Jordan, MN. She was the second child of five in the family. She attended Chaska High School and graduated in 1955.
She married David Schmidt on November 1, 1958, in Carver. They were blessed with two children, Debra and Mark, and shared 67 years together.
Doris worked for Investors Diversified Services, Owatonna Tool Co., People Savings and Loan, and Christian Brothers Cabinets before retiring in 2000.
She enjoyed playing cards, spending time with her grandchildren, being a member of the Red Hat Society, being part of the Trinity Lutheran church sewing circle, volunteering at the Clothesline, going for walks, reading, embroidering, travelling, gardening, and going to garage sales with her husband, David.
Doris is survived by her husband, David of Owatonna; daughter, Debra of Bloomington; son, Mark (special friend, Char) of Owatonna; three grandchildren; two great-grandsons; sister, Betty Weierke; brothers-in-law, Jim Weierke, Earl Nash, John Schmidt, and Forrest Schmidt; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Baby Luedloff; brother, Roger Luedloff; sister, Jane Nash; sisters-in-law, Liz Schmidt and Karon Luedloff; and brother-in-law, Marvin Schmidt.
A celebration of Doris’ life will be held at 11 AM on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna. A visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of service with a luncheon to follow. A private family burial at Spirit Hill Cemetery in Jordan will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff at Birchwood Cottages and Ecumen Hospice for the loving care you provided to Doris.
