Doris Mae Springer, 83, of Owatonna, died Saturday, December 25, 2010 at Cedarview Care Center. She was born April 3, 1927 in Brownton the daughter of Nels and Anna (Schuch) Arneson. Doris grew up on a farm near Brownton. She moved to Steele County to work as a housekeeper. Feb. 25, 1952 she married Joseph J. Springer at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owatonna. The couple farmed together until Joe preceded her in death in 2004. Doris was a very hardworking farm wife. She raised chickens, black angus beef cattle and milked cows by hand. She helped with everything on the farm from planting to picking rocks. Doris also enjoyed gardening on the farm. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She is survived by her sons, Frank E. Springer of Owatonna, Joseph P. Springer of Montgomery; daughter, Mary (and Steve) Wagaman of Medford; grandchildren, Jonathan Wagaman, Marisa Wagaman; sisters, Florence Plocher of Richfield, Alice Ellig of Hutchinson, Margaret Klitzke of Gaylord, Lenore Messer of Hopkins; brother, Alfred Arneson and nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her husband and 2 brothers. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4pm to 7pm and at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday from 9:30am to 10:30am. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 10:30am at St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Reverend Edward McGrath officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna.
