Obituary

Dorothy E. Buecksler, 88, of Owatonna, died Monday, August 1, 2016 at her residence in Brookdale Assisted Living in Owatonna. She was born April 17, 1928 in Waseca, Minnesota the daughter of William and Katherine (Krieger) Willnow. She graduated from Waseca High School, Class of 1946. Following her schooling, she worked as a telephone operator for two years in Waseca. She was united in marriage to Marvin Buecksler on August 8, 1948, at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna. The couple farmed together in Steele County before moving to Rice County in 1976. Following the death of her husband, she moved to Medford. Dorothy's employment outside the home included Green Giant, Ochs Department Store in Faribault and OTC Electronics Division until her retirement. She enjoyed square dancing, traveling, reading, attending the Hometown Sampler every March and local hockey games and was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy was a 4H leader, a volunteer in the Medford School District, and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She is survived by her children, Kay (David) Wegner of Owatonna, Mark (Mary) Buecksler of Owatonna, David (Jeanne) Buecksler of Owatonna, Craig (Robyn) Buecksler of Owatonna and Joann (David) Granowski of West Plains, Missouri; sister, Marie Sullivan of Dayton, WA; sister-in-law, Lorraine Davies of Minneapolis; eight grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Katherine; husband, Marvin Buecksler (1991); brother and sister-in-law, Herman Bud and Frances Willnow and brother-in-law, Merle Sullivan. A Funeral Service will be held at 10am on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna with Reverend Amanda Weinkauf officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Friday, August 5, 2016, at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna and on Saturday at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Owatonna. Memorials preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church, Allina Health Home Care & Hospice or donor's choice.
