Dorothy Eskra died peacefully on October 27, 2010 at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. She was 90 years old, lived in Owatonna for the past ten years and suffered from Alzheimer''s Disease for the last four years. She recently resided at Traditions of Owatonna. After graduating from Owatonna High School she was employed by Federated Insurance Company. In 1945 she married Richard Eskra, also of Owatonna, who preceded her in death in 1991. They lived in Rochester for over 40 years, where she was a bookkeeper for a number of companies. She also volunteered her services for several years to help raise funds and build a religious activity center at what was then the Rochester State Hospital. She enjoyed working with numbers, doing crosswords, traveling and crocheting. Dorothy is survived by her son, Dale (and Anne) Eskra of Evanston, Illinois; two granddaughters, Catherine Eskra of Davis, California and Laurel Eskra (and Jeff) Tropeano of Forest Hills, New York; niece Doris Krause of Hope and nephew, Glen (and Beverly) Krause of Owatonna. A memorial service will be held at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 18. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts will be gratefully received by Homestead Hospice House, 2350 26th Street NW, Owatonna, MN 55060 or the Alzheimer''s Association.
