Dorothy W. Hoffman, 88, of Owatonna, died Monday, December 30, 2013 at St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault. She was born May 19, 1925 in LeSueur, Minnesota the daughter of Herman and Edith ( Dressel) Seiler. Dorothy graduated from LeSueur High School with the class of 1943 and then she attended St. Catherine's College in St. Paul for three years. After college Dorothy started working as a nurse at the New Prague Hospital. She then married Alvin Hoffman on September 4, 1947 in St. Henry. After marriage the couple lived in New Prague and later LeSueur, and moved to St. Peter in 1960 where she worked at the St. Peter Community Hospital, and St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato. Alvin died April 28,1980 and Dorothy then moved to Mankato in 1984. She later moved to Owatonna in 2012 and resided at the Brooks. She had been a resident of St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault since June of 2013. She enjoyed sewing, crosstitch, knitting, and cooking. She is survived by her children, Judy (and Marshall) Robeck of Owatonna, Michael (and Jan) Hoffman of Mankato, and Charles (and Debbie) Hoffman of Fredericksburg, VA. Six grandchildren Michael Hoffman, Tammy Vraspir, Charles Robeck, Kristine Hoffman, Anthony Robeck, and Melissa Lewis. She is also survived by twelve great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alvin, and granddaughter Teresa Hoffman. Visitation will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday January 6, 2014 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Funeral services will be held Monday January 6, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Reverend Edward McGrath officiating. Interment will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis on Tuesday January 7, 2014. Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association.
