Dorothy L. (Jante) Eaton, 76, of Owatonna, died Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Homestead Hospice House. Dorothy Louise Jante was born September 25, 1934 in Hayfield, Minnesota the daughter of Henry and Louise (Dietz) Jante. She moved with her family to Owatonna in 1951 and here she attended school graduating from Owatonna High School in 1952. She was united in marriage to Stanley R. Eaton on August 25, 1953 at First St John Lutheran Church in Owatonna. They continued making their home in Owatonna. She worked for a service station and also in the Steele County Courthouse. Stanley died in September of 1990. Dorothy enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed watching the grandchildren play sports and other activities. She was a member at Redeemer Lutheran Church and served on the alter guild. Dorothy was also a member of the VFW Women''s Auxiliary, the American Legion, and in 1983, along with her husband, inducted into the Minnesota Gopher State Horseshoe Association Hall of Fame. She also enjoyed going on trips through the Senior Place. She is survived by a daughter, Debra Eaton of Owatonna; two sons, Michael (and Linda) Eaton of Owatonna; Bruce Eaton of San Diego; two brothers, Lawrence (and Mavis) Jante of Spicer; Lester (and Jane) Jante of Medford; three sisters, Lucille (and Vern) Rolfe of Rochester; Darlene (and Cy) Veerkamp of Rochester; Shirley (and Jerry) Nesdahl of San Jose; grandchildren, Scott Eaton, Joel (and Lynn) Eaton and Sarah Eaton, six great grandchildren, Bailey, Skyler, Jayger, Kayla, Karmen and Kylee Eaton, and many nephews and nieces. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, a sister, Mildred and her parents. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Redeemer Lutheran Church with The Reverend Kirk Griebel officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
