Dorothy L. Turtness, 88, of Owatonna, died Friday, May 27, 2016. She was born August 26, 1927 in Fairmont, Minnesota the daughter of George and Alma (Borgen) Turtness. In 1945, she graduated from Waseca Central High School. She attended St. Olaf College and graduated in 1949. She took additional courses at Minnesota State in Mankato. Dorothy taught in Tracy, Worthington, and Owatonna. Dorothy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Senior Choir, and the Leah Altar Guild. Her volunteer work has been with the American Red Cross Bloodmobile Unit, Owatonna Hospital Auxiliary, and Steele County Historical Society. In high school she played clarinet in the band and violin in the college orchestra. She also enjoyed traveling and doing Hardanger stitching. She is survived by her cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services for Dorothy will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna.
