Obituary

Dorothy A. Woodfill, 91, of Owatonna, died Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Homestead Hospice House. Dorothy Alice Gilman was born August 5, 1920 in Medford Township, Minnesota the daughter of Percy and Winifred Eva (Tuttle) Gilman. She was raised near Medford and graduated from Medford High School. While in school, she met her future husband Glen Woodfill. The couple was united in marriage on December 15, 1940. They made their home in Medford and later the family moved to Owatonna. Here they made their home for 12 years and then returned back to Medford. Glen worked for Josten's and in 1969, the couple moved to Caracas, Venezuela where Glen began a manufacturing company for Josten's. They returned to Owatonna after two years. Glen died in June of 2001. Dorothy and Glen enjoyed taking the family on camping trips in Northern Minnesota. She was very neat and after checking in to the rustic cabins of the North, she would clean the cabin to make sure nothing was missed. She cooked the campfire meals over a Coleman stove. The family also went on trips to the Rocky Mountains and Niagara Falls. She always kept a journal of the trips and the activities. After retirement Glen and Dorothy traveled throughout the United States and wintered in Arizona. Being diagnosed with diabetes, Dorothy took care of herself and kept her diabetes under control by walking four miles a day and eating healthy. She had a beautiful smile that was contagious.
