Douglas L. Seibert, 86, of Owatonna, died Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Birchwood Cottages in Owatonna. He was born March 29, 1931 in St. Peter, Minnesota the son of Jay and Eva Irene (Peterson) Seibert. Douglas graduated from St. Peter High School in 1949. He served on the Frank E. Evans ship with the U.S. Navy from 1949 to 1952. He married Oz (Marian Oskvig) on December 5, 1954 in Ringsted, Iowa. They had two children, Steve and Pam. Doug and Oz moved to Ringsted to farm and then bought a grocery store and meat market in Kiester, Minnesota. Doug loved owning his own business and making homemade sausage and bacon. He enjoyed his time helping people as he served on the Kiester Ambulance as an EMT. Doug and Oz enjoyed retirement years with friends during the winter in Lake Placid, Florida. They moved from Kiester to Morehouse Place in Owatonna in 2013. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Oz; children, Steve in Owatonna and Pam (Jim) Seaser in Owatonna; grandchildren, Jay, Jenna and Joel Seaser. The family wishes to thank Birchwood Cottages for their excellent care and kindness for the time Doug spent at their facility. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna on Wednesday, January 17th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at church one hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Owatonna with The Reverend Greg Schlicker officiating.
