Duane Clarence Rasmussen, 85, of Owatonna, died Friday, January 5, 2018 at Koda Living Community. He was born July 20, 1932 in Meriden Township the son of Clarence and Sylvia (Rasmussen) Rasmussen. Duane grew up in Hope. He graduated from Owatonna High School in 1951. On May 6, 1954 he married Ione Standke in Owatonna. Duane worked at the Ford garage before opening his own business, Oakdale Body Shop in May of 1970. He worked there until his retirement in May of 1998. In retirement he drove cars for Jerry's Automotive and Hursh Motors. Duane was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Elk's Lodge 1395 and Owatonna Eagles 1790. He enjoyed country western music, old time music, the Minnesota Vikings and mystery movies. He also enjoyed sharing his love of NASCAR racing with his grandchildren and attending their sports and activities. He is survived by his wife, Ione Rasmussen of Owatonna; daughter, Linda Sackett of Indianapolis, IN; son, Brian (and John Sugimura)Rasmussen of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Joel (and Ashley)Sackett, Darrin (and Danielle) Sackett, Rachel Sackett; great grandchildren, Brady Sackett, Reese Sackett, Macie Sackett; brothers, Lyle Rasmussen of Owatonna, Glenn (and Nancy) Rasmussen of St. Louis Park and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at St. John Lutheran Church on Saturday from 10am to 11am. Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11am at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Jacie Richmond officiating.
