Dwaine Dale Wetzel, 62, of Owatonna, died Saturday, March 3, 2018 at his home.
He was born June 4, 1955 in Owatonna the son of Dale and Gertrude (Dinse) Wetzel. Dwaine graduated from Owatonna High School in 1973. On March 22, 1980 he married Tamara Hager at Christ the King Catholic Church in Medford. The couple lived on his home farm where they continued to reside. Dwaine farmed with his dad for several years and helped him operate the road grader for Meriden Township roads. He took over the road grading after his dad died and has now passed this on to his sons. His involvement grading roads for Meriden Township spans over 45 years. He worked as an ag mechanic for Budach Implement and was also a truck driver. Most recently, he drove truck for his two sons who own H.I.R. Trucking. He hauled his last load for them on January 19, 2018.
Dwaine enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling and camping. He was an avid collector of toy tractors. He also made a true to scale farm display that has been shared with students at elementary schools as well as being displayed at shows and businesses. He loved to be a part of his sons' lives and enjoyed participating in the Big Iron Truck Show with them and spending time in the shop with them. He loved time with his family and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Tami Wetzel of Owatonna; sons, Nathan (and Michelle) Wetzel of Waseca, Travis (and Shannon) Wetzel of Meriden; grandsons, Dale and Benjamin Wetzel of Waseca, Tucker and LeRoy Wetzel of Meriden. Dwaine is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday from 4pm to 8pm. Private family services will be held with interment at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Meriden.
