Earl Milo Hopkins, 89, of West Concord, died Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Mary's Campus.
He was born December 8, 1924 in Milton Township, Minnesota the son of Milo and Ida (White) Hopkins. Earl attended District 5 country school, known as Kutzler school house. He married Gladys Dohrmann on June 13, 1948 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Pine Island. After marriage Earl worked for his father on the farm. Earl had a canned milk route for sixteen years, and also farmed, later moving to Ellington Township and continued to farm until his death. Earl was a farmer at heart. Earl was a member of Concord Church of Christ where he was a deacon, usher, and church treasurer. Earl was the Ellington Township treasurer where he served from 1974 until the present. He enjoyed his family, bowling, and riding around the farm on his Gaitor.
He is survived by his wife Gladys of West Concord, four daughters Glady (Larry) Rucker of Oronoco, Cindy (Dennis) Dohrmann of Claremont, Ann (Jeff) Franzen of Dodge Center, and Beth Hodgman of West Concord. Earl is also survived by eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one sister Daisy (Art) Norris of Sedona, AZ, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, four sisters, and his son in law, Scott Hodgman.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord on Thursday August 7, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at Concord Church of Christ on Friday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Friday August 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Concord Church of Christ with Reverends Jim Allard and Dan Lundgren officiating. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery in West Concord. Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
