Edith Arlene Franzen, 77, of Dodge Center, died Thursday, October 24, 2019 at her home. She was born April 22, 1942 in Calumet County, Wisconsin the daughter of Henry and Florence (Rehrauer) Vollmer. She grew up in New Holstein, Wisconsin. On June 17, 1961, she married Laverne "Slim" Franzen. The couple lived in St. Anna, Wisconsin and Edith was a stay-at-home mom raising her children. She then went to work with her husband transporting mobile homes around the country. They had homes in Minnesota, Indiana and Florida. Following Laverne's death in 2016, Edith remained in Florida for one winter and then moved to Dodge Center to be closer to family. Edith and Laverne enjoyed following NASCAR and traveled to many races in their motorhome. She is survived by her children, Jeff (Ann) Franzen of Dodge Center, Richard Franzen (Lori Ellingson) of West Concord and Cindy (Myke) Erdmann of 29 Palms, CA; siblings, Carol Doede, Paul Vollmer, and Terrence Vollmer; grandchildren, Sarah Franzen, Kelly (Eli) Fjerstad and Katie Erdmann (Logan Otomo) and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Florence Vollmer; husband, Laverne L. Franzen; son, Randy Franzen and siblings, Eugene Vollmer and James Vollmer, Sr. A private burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery in St. Anna, Wisconsin.
