Edna Marie Boreen, 89, of Owatonna will be spending Christmas in heaven. She passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at her home. Edna was born January 30, 1924 in Grasston, Minnesota the daughter of Arvid and Emma (Carlson) Sandberg. She attended Grasston High School graduating in 1942. After graduating from high school she moved to Minneapolis to work at Lifetouch. She met her husband Sidney Boreen and the couple was united in marriage on March 25, 1950 in Grasston, MN. She was an at home Mom for many years and then went to work for the Green Stamp Store. She then went to work with Sidney at the Surge Dairy Farm Supply. She is survived by her children Ron (and Julie) Boreen; Nancy (and Mike) Borchert and Patti (and Ron) Blakstad all of Owatonna. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Korey (and Tanya) Borchert, Melissa (and Daniel) Tellijohn, Anthony (and Rachel) Blakstad, Amy (and Bryant) Wencl; seven great grandchildren, Maiah, Elijah and Isaiah Tellijohn; Layla and Ethan Borchert; and Landon and Greyson Wencl all of Owatonna. She was preceded in death by her husband Sid in 2009, a son, Robert Jon Boreen, her parents, two brothers and a sister. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Memorial services will be held Monday, December 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Julie Malone officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Owatonna. Edna's family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff at Countryside for their compassionate care during her last few weeks. They truly are a part of her family.
