Edna H. Frahman, 91, of Owatonna, died Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Valley View of Owatonna. She was born August 27, 1922 in Meriden Township, Steele County, Minnesota the daughter of Paul and Althea (Miller) Gertje. Edna attended School District #36 graduating from eighth grade in 1936. She helped her father do work at Crown Creamery and also worked at Jostens. She married Harlan Frahman on September 23, 1945 in Owatonna. The couple farmed together and milked cows for many years. They moved into Owatonna in 1967 and Edna started working for Truth Hardware where she retired from in 1987 after working twenty years. She was a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church, and a life long member of Steele County. Edna enjoyed being with family and friends and talked about her friends often. She enjoyed traveling, ice fishing, and going to resorts. She was a member of the Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War 1861-1865. She is survived by her niece and God child Sheila Meixner, and nieces and nephews Sherry (Jim) Harbal, Shelly (Tim) Simon, Sue (Dan) Jones, Carol (Roy) Whipp, Kent Kaplan, Kim (Tom) Wavrin, and Karen Kaplan. She is also survived by many great and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harlan in 1993, and three sisters Agnes Fischer, Viola Steele, and Hazel Meixner. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday January 22, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a DUVCW service to be held at 7:00 PM and at St. John Lutheran Church on Thursday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Funeral services will be held Thursday January 23, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
