Edna M. Nelson , 93, of Owatonna, died Friday, May 28, 2010 at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji, MN. She was born May 15, 1917 in Waseca, Minnesota the daughter of Herman and Gertrude (Angelsburg) Kuehnel. She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in 1935. In 1936, she attended St. Paul Business School where she was a member of the choir and was selected to sing a solo for Eleanor Roosevelt. Edna was united in marriage to Clifford O. Nelson on February 26, 1938 in Waseca and made their home in Owatonna until she was 89 years old when she moved to Walker, Minnesota. She was a life long member of Catholic Daughters and a member of the PTA. She worked at Federated Insurance, King Company, Owatonna Hospital and Steele County Court House. She enjoyed music, reading, and she was especially happy spending time with her family, her favorite dogs and the younger children. She was a great cook and loved to play cards and board games. She was a talented artist and loved to camp in Northern Minnesota with her family and friends. She is survived by 4 children, Richard (Glenda) Nelson, of Cedar Rapids, IA; Jerry (Marjean) Nelson of Zumbrota, MN; Diane Nelson of Walker, MN, and Robert (Nancy) Nelson of Bloomington, MN. 16 Grand Children, 23 Great Grand Children, and 9 Great Great Grand Children. She was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, and 1 grandchild. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM . Funeral services will be held Wednesday June 2, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Reverend Edward McGrath officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to St. Joseph Catholic Church or American Heart Association.
