Edward "Dick" Bernard Sanders, 92, of Owatonna, died Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Koda Living Community.
He was born October 4,1927 in Owatonna, Minnesota the son of Lloyd and Elvera (Reul) Sanders. He grew up in Owatonna graduating from Owatonna High School in 1945. He served in the Army from October, 1945 until his honorable discharge in October, 1951. On June 4, 1946, he married Elaine Pachl. The couple farmed west of Owatonna. Upon retirement from farming, they moved to Ripple Lake near Aitkin for 20 years and then returned to Owatonna.
Dick was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, the American Legion and was a 4H leader. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood working, playing cards and family time at the lake
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Elaine Sanders of Owatonna; children, Jim (Judy) Sanders of St. Francis and Diane (Larry) Wiskerchen of Ellsworth, WI; grandchildren, Bryce Butler, Brant (Alisha) Sanders, Matthew Sanders, Birgitte Wiskerchen, Dawn (Jamie) Follstad, Brian Wiskerchen and Michael Wiskerchen; 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Elaine Wencl of Alexandria and Phyllis (Duane) Urch of Owatonna.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Elvera; grandson, Christian Wiskerchen; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Jean Sanders and brother-in-law, Charles Wencl.
A Public Visitation will be held at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna on Wednesday, June 17th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The family requests masks be worn by the public.
The Funeral Services will be private with Rev. John Weisenburger and Rev. Lisa Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery with Military Honors by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit.
Memorials are preferred to Our Savior's Lutheran Church or Koda Living Community.
