Edward C. "Eddie" Schwenke, 88, of Owatonna, died Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Timberdale Trace Assisted Living. Edward Carl was born on December 2, 1930 in New Richland, Minnesota. He was the son of Edward and Louise (Drache) Schwenke. He attended and graduated from Owatonna High School in 1948. Edward went into active service, serving with the United States Army National Guard from 1951 to 1952. On November 14 1954, he married Ivadelle Hendrickson at the First Lutheran Church in Ellendale, Minnesota. Eddie was active as an usher at St. John Lutheran Church for many years. He played on the city league horseshoe team. He worked for Jostens for 43 years, and retired in June 1996 before returning to work 3 more years part time. Eddie enjoyed playing horseshoe, golfing, playing cards, and attending football games. He also enjoyed doing things with his family. He especially enjoyed attending functions that his grandchildren were in. He is survived by his 2 daughters, 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Diane (Craig) Berndt - Brandon, Bryce, and Breanne. Nancy (Michael) Berndt - Dustin and Jenna. His wife, parents, and a sister - Viola Zeise, precede him in death. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-7pm and at St. John Lutheran Church on Thursday from 10-11am . Funeral services will be held Thursday April 11, 2019 at 11am at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
