Edwin Olaf Roberts, 86, of West Concord, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, with his wife, his daughter, and Snuggles, the family dog, at his side. Ed was born on May 1, 1928 to Inger Marie Stensland Roberts and George Roberts, on the family farm in West Concord, Minnesota. He lived his entire life at Maple Lawn Farm, where he built a home for his bride of 64 years, Dolores Schletty Roberts, and his two daughters, Mary Kay Roberts and Betty Ann Roberts. It was here that Ed started a farm implement business, later joined in partnership by his brother, Mervin Roberts. The brothers farmed the land, raised their families, grew the business, and later acquired a hardware store in West Concord. Through the years, Ed developed his natural aptitude for all things mechanical, and enjoyed sharing this knowledge with others. As a younger man, he pursued his interest in fishing, and later developed his skills with gardening. The family farm brought him great pleasure. In the later years of his life, Ed was devoted to his wife and daughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife's parents, several brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, and many special friends, including his fishing buddies. Ed is survived by his wife, Dolores; his daughters, Mary Kay and Betty Ann; his brother, Mervin and sister-in-law, Charlotte, of Jacksonville, Florida; several sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. There will be no funeral or memorial services, in honor of his wishes. A remembrance celebration is being planned for Spring, 2015. Based on his lifetime support of the West Concord Fire and Rescue Department, his wife and daughters recommend that memorial gifts be directed to this organization. Arrangements by Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord.
