Edwin Ed A. Strohschein, 93, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Koda Living Community. He was born October 31, 1924 in Owatonna, Minnesota the son of Edwin B. and Ella (Rotsolk) Strohschein. He graduated from Medford High School in 1942. Edwin served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946. On December 28, 1947, he married Arlys Rafdal and the couple had three children, Jane, Tom, David. He then married Margaret (Mostrom) Finne on August 11, 1990 in Faribault. Ed's work career included Reinhart Motors Chrysler International, working for his father as a mechanic and driver hauling milk for the Moland Creamery, and then began Ed's Repair which he owned and operated for 42 years. He was a member of First English Church in Faribault, the American Legion, V.F.W. and Elks. When not working, Ed enjoyed spending time fishing at Farm Island Lake south of Aitkin. He created many enjoyable memories with his grandchildren at the lake. He was a fixer-upper and handyman and enjoyed woodworking as a hobby. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling. Saturday evening dinners with his brother were a ritual rarely missed. His playful sense of humor endeared him to people he came in contact with. He is survived by his wife Margaret Strohschein of Owatonna; daughter, Jane (Jeff) Johnson of Ellendale; son, David (Kathy) Strohschein of Owatonna; brother, Harland (Mona) Strohschein of Owatonna; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; step-sons, Dan (Lorraine) Finne and Michael (Janet) Finne both of Owatonna; 3 step-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Ella; son, Tom. A funeral service will be held at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Janet White will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit. A private interment will be at a later date in St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
