Elaine R. Wangsness, 87, of Kenyon died on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 in the Kenyon Sunset Home. Elaine was born on September 17, 1921 the daughter of Nels and Marie (Koberstein) Wangsness at their farm in Kenyon Township. She was raised and attended country Skyberg Country School. She was baptized into faith and then confirmed her faith at Hegre Lutheran Church. Elaine was a Sunday school teacher for 25 years and Superintendent for several years. After moving to Kenyon, Elaine joined Hauge Lutheran Church and was financial secretary for many years. Elaine worked at the Home Plate, Flick''s Grocery and Johnson''s Grocery in Kenyon. Elaine was honored for working on 'Main Street' Kenyon for 50 years. Elaine is survived by her sister, Alpha Sathrum of Kenyon; special cousins, Barb (and Harlan) Estrem of Kenyon; nieces and nephews, Jim and Tammy Hanson, Mike and Anita Hanson of Colorado; Janet and Gordon Hartman of Iowa; Doug and Penny Hanson of North Dakota; Jim and Kathy Ressler, Mark and Marcia Helgeson of Faribault; David and Sherry Sathrum of Kenyon; Paul Sathrum of Washington DC; and Bill and Sharman Starman of Austin. Great nieces and nephews, Wesley Hartman, Kristine Hartman, Shara Ressler, Danny Ressler, Seth Helgeson, Lauren Hanson, Mitchell Sathrum, Jack Helgeson, Kelsey Starman, Abbey Helgeson, Drew Sathrum, McKayla Hanson and other cousins and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Marilyn Starman and Betty Hanson and brothers-in-law, Dale Starman, George Hanson and Robert Sathrum. The funeral service for Elaine will be held on Monday, May 25, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Hauge Lutheran Church, Kenyon with Reverend Nancy Edwardson officiating.
