Eldon Clarence Ellingson, 83, of West Concord, died Monday, December 18, 2017 at Rochester Rehabilitation and Living Center. He was born September 5, 1934 in West Bend, Iowa the son of Melvin and Lillian (Habeger) Ellingson. Eldon graduated from Ottosen High School in 1952. He married Genese Johnson September 27, 1953 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rolfe, IA. They farmed together in Kossuth County, IA until 1960 when they moved to a farm near West Concord. In 1970, they started Ellingson Drainage Service. In 1996, he started L&E Farm Drainage with his son, Larry. He and Larry farmed together until 2000 and were currently still business partners in L&E Farm Drainage. Eldon was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church serving on the church council. He served on the Concord Township Board for many years. He was a member of the West Concord Commercial Club, and he and his wife were voted West Concord "Citizens of the Year" in 2004. Eldon enjoyed dancing and listening to Polka music. He frequently traveled to surrounding towns to listen to various bands. He is survived by his sons, Roger (and Denise) Ellingson of Dodge Center, Larry (and Denise) Ellingson of West Concord, Kevin (and Julie) Ellingson of Pine Island; grandchildren, Jeremy (and Jennifer) Ellingson, Derrik (and Danielle) Ellingson, Taylor (and Kevin) Erler, Cameron Ellingson, Cayla (and Nelson Edling) Ellingson, Quinn Ellingson; step-grandchildren, Christopher (and Amy) Freiderich, Cole (and Jaci) Freiderich, Brooke Freiderich; 5 great grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; brothers, Orville Ellingson, Ron (and Marlene) Ellingson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Genese Ellingson. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord Chapel on Thursday from 4pm to 7pm and at Trinity Lutheran Church, West Concord on Friday from 9:30am to 10:30am. Funeral services will be held December 22, 2017 at 10:30am at Trinity Lutheran Church, West Concord with Reverend Jim Rushton officiating. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery in Concord Township. Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church, West Concord.
