Obituary

Eleanor Anne Worke, 83, of Owatonna, died Monday, May 7, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester. She was born December 27, 1928 in Owatonna, the daughter of Henry and Martha (Jansa) Spatenka. She started working at the age of 16 as a candy girl at Spurgeons. Eleanor married Karl Christey in 1951 and the couple was later divorced. She married Dale Worke January 17, 1966. Eleanor worked as a secretary or bookkeeper for Central Co-op, Art Bracy Ford, Steele County Auditors Office and the Owatonna Elks Club. She was a bartender at Geneva Municipal, Ellendale Municipal and the Whispering Pines. She managed and was bartender of the Blooming Prairie Serviceman''s Club and was self employed as a painter. Eleanor also put in many years of service for several organizations including serving as treasurer of WFLA Lodge #127, 1st District Treasurer for VFW, served as President and 1st District President for the VFW, and Treasurer of American Legion #422. Eleanor was also a chairman for many programs at the district and local levels, Loyalty Day Committee, Publicity Committee, Membership Committee, and Past President of American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by sons, Kevin Christey of Owatonna, John (and Mary) Worke of Blooming Prairie; step-son, Randy (and Elizabeth) Worke of LaCrosse, WI; step-daughter, Connie (and Earl) Sykes of LaCrosse, WI; grandchildren, Ryan Kneesel, Chad Kneesel, Justin Kneesel, Matthew Kneesel, Randy Lee Worke, Amanda Worke, Brandon Worke, Sharon Christopher, Matthew Worke, Madison Worke, Julia Worke; great grandchildren, Maddie, Riley, Adrianna, Eli; foster sister, Catherine Mart. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dale Worke, Karl Christey; foster brother, John Zack. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and at The Associated Church on Friday, May 11, 2012 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 11, 2012 at 1 p.m. at The Associated Church with Dr. Ronald D. Wilson officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna. Visitation: 05/10/2012 16:00 05/10/2012 20:00 Service: and one hour prior to the church service 05/11/2012 12:00
