Obituary

Elinor Ellie Evert, age 78, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. Elinor Ellie Jeanette Elliott was born on May 8, 1938, in Harmony, Minnesota the daughter of Max and Lillian (Oftedahl) Elliott. She grew up in Kenyon and graduated from Kenyon High School, Class of 1956. Following her schooling, she worked at KDHL radio station and and at Ochs Department Store in Faribault where she met her husband, Leonard Bud Evert. On April 6, 1963, Ellie and Bud were married in Kenyon. The couple made their home in Faribault until 1971 when they moved to Owatonna and purchased Floorcrafters which they owned and operated until 1983. Ellie then went to work at Truth Hardware until her retirement in 2005. Following Bud's death in 2006, Ellie wintered in South Padre Island, Texas for a few years. She enjoyed casinos, playing cards at the Elks Club where she was a lifetime member, attending sporting events of her children and grandchildren, fishing, and socializing with family and friends. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Elks Club. Survived by children, Kim Evert of Lake Mills, IA, Jodi (Loni) Reko of Owatonna, Heidi Dinse (Steve Palmer) of Owatonna, Jay (Shalaine) Evert of Owatonna; grandchildren, Tom, Trevor, Travis and Tasha, Carissa, Katie (Andy) and Cory, Sara (Troy), Jennifer (Marcus) and John, Jaylin and Joseph; great-grandchildren, Avery, Riley and Landon, Asher and Fiona, Evelyn and Jack, Ryan and Blake; brother, Chuck (Marilyn) Elliott of St. Cloud; sister, Maxine (Merlin) Finnesgard of Kenyon; sisters-in-law, Marlene Morsching, Ida Evert both of Faribault and Jean Elliott of Old Hickory, TN, and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Bud on Nov. 30, 2006; parents; brother, Richard Elliott; sister, Karen Spiess and brothers-in-law, Harry Evert, Dale Morsching and Del Spiess A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, May 13th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna with visitation one hour prior.
