Ella Bernice Jepson, 89, of Owatonna, died Friday, May 18, 2018 at Koda Living Community.
She was born October 6, 1928 in Hartland the daughter of Knute and Betsy Sundve. Ella grew up and attended school near Hartland. While square dancing she met her future husband Paul. On Sept. 18, 1954 she married Paul Jepson at Hartland Lutheran Church. Following their marriage, the couple farmed in Steele County. Ella worked very hard to keep her family well fed and happy. She taught herself to tailor clothing and make furniture. She helped teach a Norwegian language class at St. Olaf College. Paul and Ella traveled to Norway to visit close relatives, to the Pacific to the places where Paul fought in WW II and throughout Europe. Of her travels, she enjoyed Norway, Switzerland, Hawaii and New Zealand the most.
Ella was a member of Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was active in Ladies Aid. She was a member of Present Day Study Club. Ella was famous for baking exceptionally tasty breads and buns and making many crafts including Tatted Lace. In her recent years, she enjoyed knitting hats, mittens and scarves to donate to children's charities. Ella was a woman of strong faith and strong character.
She is survived by her daughter, Ruth (and Doug) Jepson Nelson of Isle; son, James (and Dana) Jepson of Pflugerville, TX; grandchildren Elizabeth James of Boston, MA, Stephanie (and Philip) Klonowski of Pittsburgh, KS, Michelle Jepson of Wake Forest, NC, David Jepson stationed at Offut A.F.B., NE and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Jepson, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Visitation will be at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 9:30am to 10:30am. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 10:30am at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church with The Reverend Thomas Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Owatonna.
