Ellsworth 'Al' R. Buan, 91, of Kenyon, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Kenyon Sunset Home. He was born September 11, 1919 in Radville, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Albert and Annie (Oyen) Buan. He was baptized in Canada. In 1925, at the age of six, Ellsworth and his parents moved to Long Prairie, MN. He was raised on a farm and attended country school in Little Sauk. He confirmed his faith in 1934 at Long Bridge Lutheran Church near Little Sauk. In 1938, he moved to Kenyon where he worked for area farmers. He was united in marriage to Mary Louise Odegaard on January 1, 1940 at First Lutheran Church in Decorah, Iowa. They made their home and farmed on the Odegaard family farm in Kenyon. He also had a trucking business for a number of years. He was a member of Hauge Lutheran Church. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed woodworking. He is survived by six children, Richard (and Ardith) Buan of Litchfield, David (and Beverly) Buan of Oakdale, Daniel (and Paulette) Buan of Kenyon, Ann (and Roland) Truelson of Owatonna, Robert Buan of Owatonna, and Douglas (and Christine) Buan of Kenyon; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys Zuelow of Wadena and Grace McNeill of Edina; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary, son, Mark, two sisters and two brothers. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, October 15, 2010 at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Hauge Lutheran Church with The Reverend Martin Horn officiating. Interment will be in the Kenyon Cemetery in Kenyon. Memorials are preferred to Hauge Lutheran Church, New Life radio program or donor''s choice.
