Obituary

Elmer A. Meixner, 84, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Homestead Hospice House. He was born April 23, 1924 in Deerfield Township, Steele Co., the son of Emil and Mary Ann (Kubista) Meixner. Elmer graduated from OHS in 1942, and then married Mildred Heinz July 29, 1945 at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna. He worked for Hissam Construction for twenty-six years and then worked at Wenger Co. for ten years until retiring in 1986. Elmer was involved in the Civil Defense and was a Special Deputy for Steele Co. His many hobbies included fishing, horseshoe league, hunting, rock tumbling, metal detecting, gardening, flowers, and card club. Elmer is survived his wife Mildred of sixty- two years, grandson Timothy (Rebecca) Chamberlain of Apple Valley, aunt Anna Hillson of Blooming Prairie, and many cousins. Two daughters Carol Meixner and Linda Chamberlain, sister Dorothy and son- in- law David Chamberlain, preceded him in death. Funeral service will be held Friday May 2, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Reverend Kirk Griebel officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Homestead Hospice House, or Donor''s Choice. Michaelson Funeral Home is handling funeral arrangements.
