Erling W. Prestegard, 90, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Cedarview Care Center. He was born April 5, 1920 in Aurora Township, Minnesota the son of Sam and Anna (Silrum) Prestegard. Erling grew up in Aurora Township, and attended country school and Owatonna High School. He married Lorraine Middlestadt August 19, 1942 at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna, the couple then farmed together in Aurora Township. Erling was a member of the NFO, the District 2136 School Board, and a life member of Aurora Lutheran Church. Erling worked as a custodian for the Owatonna Schools for sixteen years. His greatest joy was having his grandchildren and great grandchildren spend time with him at the farm. Erling and Lorraine enjoyed the card club that they were with for many years. Lorraine died August 30, 2001. He is survived by his sons Kevin Prestegard and friend (Shelly Shea) and Mark (and April) Prestegard both of Owatonna, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and his sister Audrey Klima of Owatonna. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lorraine, two brothers, and two sisters. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday March 20, 2011 from 3-6 P.M. and at Aurora Lutheran Church on Monday from 10-11 A.M. Funeral services will be held Monday March 21, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Aurora Lutheran Church with Reverend Ron Barth officiating. Interment will be in the Aurora Lutheran Cemetery in Havana Township.
