Obituary

Ernest E. Brocker 83, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato. He was born March 29, 1925, in Lemond Township the son of Alfred and Dora (Wilker) Brocker. Ernest attended school through the eighth grade at Lemond Country School; he then worked on the family farm. He married Mercedes Rieck April 10, 1947; together they celebrated fifty years of marriage. Ernest was employed at Jostens for fourty-three years, and worked part time at Security Bank doing maintenance, and he also did yard work. Ernie later retired from Jostens. Mercedes died May 16, 1997. Ernie was very active in the Eagles Club, helping with Cancer Telethon activities, pancake breakfasts, Bingo, and district meetings. He received Eagle of the Year and he and his wife received Mr. and Mrs. Eagle of the Year. He also shot on the Eagles trap shooting team. Ernie enjoyed fishing, going up North on family vacations, going to the Casino, farming, country drives, his favorite activities were attending auctions, garage sales and visiting with people, he also liked woodworking and built over 400 washer board games. Most of all Ernie enjoyed his time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He is survived by two daughters Audrey (Veryl) Morrell of Madison Lake, MN, and Donna (Steve) Jensen of Fairmont, MN. He is also survived by his grandchildren David (Roxanne) Morrell, Jennifer (Roger) Rutgers Christine (Troy) Laue, Rebecca (Layne) Carpenter, Sarah (Jeff) Hansen, and thirteen great grandchildren, and one brother Elmer (Sharon) Brocker of North Mankato, MN, and many nieces and nephews. His wife, three brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday August 15 from 5-8 PM and from 10-11 AM on Saturday at the church. Funeral service will be held Saturday August 16 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church with the Reverend Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to St. John Lutheran Church or Owatonna Hospice. Visitation: 08/15/2008 17:00 08/15/2008 20:00 Service: and one hour prior to the service at the church. 08/16/2008 11:00
