Esther D. Lulf, 101, of West Concord , died Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the United Hospital in St. Paul. She was born December 1, 1909 in Dodge County, Minnesota the daughter of Windsor and Amelia (Steele) Sparrow. She attended school in Union Springs and graduated from Byron High School. She married Robert Brown on July 16, 1927 in Rochester and they made their home in West Concord. Esther worked at Rochester Dairy until the birth of their first child, Richard, in 1930. She stayed home and raised their six sons and one daughter. She also babysat and raised a nephew and cared for her father for 4 years in their home. In 1958, they moved to Winsted and in 1963 made their home in Howard Lake. Robert died in 1969. In 1974 she married Harry Lulf and they moved back to West Concord. Harry died in 1982. Esther resided in West Concord until 2009. Esther was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary. Esther enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, and gardening. She is survived by five sons, Eugene (and Elfe) Brown of Garrison, Donald Brown of Oronoco, James Brown of Wyoming, Gerald (and Robin) Brown of Maple Grove, and Rolland (and Debbie) Brown of Burnsville; six stepchildren, Larry (and Joan) Lulf of Lakeville, Carolyn McDaniel of Roseville, Janet Tate of Campbell, CA, Dan (and Linda) Lulf of West Concord, Boni (and Bob) Moon of Byron, and Wanda Jensen of Columbia Falls, MT; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert Brown, husband, Harry "Curly" Lulf, son, Richard 'Dick' Brown, daughter, Beverly 'Sally' Ronning, two granddaughters, Vicky Warnecki and Jill Ackerman, grandson, Ronald Erler, six brothers, Rudy, Bill, Roy, Howard, and Charles Sparrow, sister, Ann Scheffer. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord on Monday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at United Methodist Church, West Concord on Tuesday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM . Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 10:30 AM at United Methodist Church, West Concord with The Reverend David Westlake officiating.
