Eugene Gene William Klemp, 82, of Owatonna, died Monday, November 27, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester. He was born April 2, 1935 in Faribault the son of Rudolph and Wilhelmina Klemp. Gene graduated from Faribault High School. He married Barbara Steinberg August 16, 1953 at First English Lutheran Church in Faribault. Gene explored many careers working as an Ice Skating Instructor, an EMT, a self employed mechanic, driving semi as well as working for S&L Shoe Store, McQuay International. Gene enjoyed watching western movies, playing harmonica and time with his family. He loved cars and working on them doing both mechanic and body work. Gene also loved to go up north and often times would extend his stay to enjoy it a little bit more. Gene was a family man. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Klemp of Owatonna; son, Gene "Mick" (and Keri Nutt) Klemp; daughters, Cindy (and Al) Winterbauer, Lynn (and Brad) Buckenstein, Carri McGuire, Sherie (and Rick) Grunwald; 20 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sister, Gertrude Boynton and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, 1 daughter, 1 brother and 2 sisters. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 1, 2017 at 1:30pm at Michaelson Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault.
