Eunice I. Colmer, 88, of West Concord, died Monday, May 16, 2016, at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. She was born July 13, 1927, in Lemond Township, Steele County, Minnesota the daughter of Carl and H. Marie (Hanson) Johnson. She graduated from New Richland High School in 1943. Eunice married Paul Stennes in 1946 and they later divorced. On September 4, 1954, she married George Colmer with whom she shared 50 years of marriage. They resided in rural West Concord. Eunice enjoyed life on the farm, even the hard chores of milking and getting wood for the wood burning stove. She loved wood working, gardening, sewing and baking. Smelling fresh bread every Wednesday was a treat. Even better was listening to her sing while she baked. She had a beautiful, joyous voice. Eunice was a voracious reader until she passed away, always wanting to explore and learn. Her sense of humor and quick wit were only equaled by George's until he passed away on June 5, 2005. She will be remembered for her quick wit, spunk, independent attitude, and her inner strength. She was able to remain on the farm until the last few months. She is survived children, Roger (Lee) Stennes of Owatonna, Peter (Jane) Stennes of New Richland, Cindy (Troy) Hovland of Owatonna, Naomi (Brian) Bohlman of Dodge Center and Keith Colmer of West Concord and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Colmer; daughter, Donna (Colmer) Wallace; son, Steven Stennes; brother, Burnett Johnson and sisters, Alvina Christianson, Muriel Grubisch, Loretta Anderson, Carol Sukow, Elaine Halla and Doris Wood A Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Michaelson Funeral Home in West Concord with Rev. Mike Walerius officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 19th and one hour prior to the service all at the funeral home in West Concord.
