Eva Jensen, 95, of Owatonna, died Friday, November 12, 2010 at Homestead Hospice House. She was born April 19, 1915 in Querry, North Dakota the daughter of Andrew and Olive (Hartsock) Carlson. Eva grew up in Deer River one of six children. At age 7 she became a ward of the Owatonna State School for neglected children. Eva married Oscar Jensen November 14, 1934. Because of her life at the State School she always had a soft spot in her heart for little kids, especially her grand and great grandchildren. Her greatest joy was to bake something special for them or dress a doll she bought at a rummage sale. Christmas was a special time for her to make lutefisk, lefse, krumkake and Grin Grot. Eva was a member of Aurora Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and attended the Ladies Aid. She organized Aurora's Widows Club and for several years enjoyed their many get-togethers. Eva had a passion for playing rummikub and a wonderful sense of humor. She had the ability to make something out of nothing to make someone happy. Together she and her daughter, DeLoyce wrote her life story, "No Tears Allowed." Eva was a special mom, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her. She is survived by her daughters, DeLoyce (and Tom) Anderson of Barnesville, Sandra (and Ken) Dinse of Owatonna; son, Joel (and Janice) Jensen of Owatonna; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar; two infant daughters and grandson, Neil. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Saturday from 4pm to 7pm and at Aurora Lutheran Church on Sunday from 1pm to 2pm. Funeral services will be held November 14, 2010 at 2pm at Aurora Lutheran Church with Reverend Sue Wallager officiating. Interment will be in the Aurora Lutheran Cemetery in Havana Township. Memorials are preferred to Aurora Lutheran Church, Owatonna State School Museum or to the donor''s choice.
