Evan Myron Oldefendt, 92, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Koda Living Community. He was born July 13, 1923 in Somerset Township the son of Edward and Ethel (Hanson) Oldefendt. Evan married Alice Simon December 18, 1942 at First Lutheran Church in Hope. The couple lived in Hope where Evan farmed, worked at Oldefendt Livestock & Feed and later worked construction for Park Construction. He served on the Hope Creamery Board, was a 4-H leader for many years, a member of Kiwanis and delivered Meals on Wheels. He was a great "Hockey Grandparent," watching his grandchildren play hockey for many years. He is survived by his daughters, Susan Oldefendt of Boulder, CO, Linda (and Richard) Kronick of Minneapolis; sons, Gary (and Audrey) Oldefendt of Owatonna, Bob (and Colleen) Oldefendt of Owatonna; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Alice; brother, Glendon Oldefendt; sister, Yvonne Ahrens-Wencl; granddaughter, Traci Dean. Visitation will be at First Lutheran Church, Hope on Monday from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 at 11am at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Sandy Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Steele Center Cemetery.
