Evelyn Carolyn Trulson was born October 28, 1917, in Almelund, Minnesota, and died October 7, 2019 in Owatonna just three weeks short of her 102nd birthday.
Evelyn was born to John and Johanna (Nelson) Shoberg, the oldest of five children. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from North Branch High School. In 1941, she married N. Willard Trulson. When Willard returned from his WWII service, they moved to Fridley, MN, where they resided for over 60 years, raising three children. They were an incredible couple, real partners in life for 67 years - hard workers and fun loving, too. Their first priority was always family.
Evelyn was a loving person with a beautiful smile and a positive attitude toward life. She was an expert homemaker, having the gifts of hospitality and graciousness, offering a warm welcome - and good food - to family and friends - and their families and friends. She loved unconditionally, had a strong faith, and had a lively personality and sense of humor. She was a wonderful mother and wife, caring for her family with warmth, love, and efficiency. Evelyn loved the out-of-doors and especially enjoyed time at their lake cabin in Crosslake where she practiced two of her talents - catching and frying fish! She also enjoyed gardening, dancing, reading, sewing and needlework, and liked playing cards and games. Once retired, Evelyn and Willard took regular trips, visiting all states except Alaska. Evelyn also worked for many years as a printer for Brown Photo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Johanna Shoberg and brothers, Everett and Raymond Shoberg.
She is survived by her sister, Lucille Dresel; brother, James Shoberg; children, Faye Johnson, Mary Levine, and Thomas (and Debbie) Trulson; grandchildren, Tamara Carlisle, Michelle (Mort) Wald, Steven Reed, Elizabeth Brown, Patricia Durst, Jennifer Durst, Diana (Darren) Langston, Rebecca (Scott) Slater, and Chad (Tara) Trulson; many beloved great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Evelyn's family would like to thank Timberdale Trace and Heartland Hospice staff for their loving, professional care.
A Memorial Service will be at 12:00 pm on Monday, October, 28, 2019, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 220 S. Cedar Ave. in Owatonna with visitation one hour prior at the church.
