Obituary

Evelyn Mae Urch, 90, of West Concord, died Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Koda Living Community in Owatonna. She was born July 9, 1926 in Dodge County, Minnesota the daughter of Charles and Estina (Abel) French. She lived her whole life in Dodge County. She attended school in Dodge Center until her senior year when she transferred to West Concord High School graduating with the Class of 1944. She was united in marriage to Harvey Urch on August 1, 1944 at the home of her parents. The couple farmed in rural West Concord and moved to town in 1956. Growing up, Evelyn was active in 4-H and served as the Dodge County Health Queen. In her adult years she was active in her church, First Baptist/Faith Community Church teaching Sunday School, singing in choir, Awana, supporting missions and hosting missionaries in her home. She also led Bible studies in West Concord and was involved in the Owatonna Christian Women organization. Evelyn took a genuine interest in people, wanting to learn all about their lives. She was an accomplished seamstress often hemming garments on the way to an event. She enjoyed her new home that had a lot of windows so she could watch the birds in the yard. She is survived by children, Carol (Richard) Hochreiter, Vicki (Mark) Gustafson, Barbara (Timothy) Byrne, Rebecca (Loren) Montague and Frederick (Mary) Urch; daughter-in-law, Mavis Holden; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harvey; son, Lowell Butch; granddaughter, Chelsea Montague; siblings, Bessie Culbert, Allen French, Clara Hanson, Dorothy Phelps, Richard French and June Troff. Visitation will be held from 3-5pm Sunday, February 5, 2017, at Michaelson Funeral Home in West Concord and at church one hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Faith Community Church in West Concord with Pastor David Breederland officiating.
