Evelyn Irene Ward, 88, of Owatonna, died Friday, March 30, 2018 at Birchwood Cottages in Owatonna. She was born June 17, 1929 in Medford, Minnesota the daughter of George and Connie (Klasse) Mount. Evelyn graduated from Owatonna High School in 1948. She married Lester Ward on June 21, 1951 and later divorced. Evelyn worked at Federated Insurance from 1948-1952 and 1973-1993. She also worked as a church secretary at the Methodist churches in Teaneck, Kearney, East Rutherford and Carlton Hill all in New Jersey. She enjoyed sewing, camping, traveling, crocheting, reading, word search, puzzles and spending time with family. Evelyn was a member of the Owatonna United Methodist Church and a member of the Order of Eastern Star for over 50 years. She is survived by daughters, Marcia (Louis) Costello of Myrtle Beach, SC, Barbara Ward (Jim Venn) of North Haledon, NJ and Naomi (Lanny) Uber of Owatonna; son in law, Jim Saufferer of Owatonna; brother, George Mount of Claremont; sister, Pam Mount of Owatonna; nephew, David (Barbara) Starch of Nerstrand; 6 grandchildren, Michael (Sandy Ward) Costello, Peter (Andrea) Costello, Michael Venn, Jeremy (Emily) Saufferer, Kathryn (Phillip) Hildebrandt and Joseph (Libby Murphy) Saufferer and great-grandchildren, Anthony and Isabella Costello, Charleigh Saufferer and Emma Hildebrandt. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Connie; son, James Ward; daughter, Ruth Saufferer and sister-in-law, Phyllis Mount. A memorial visitation will be held at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna on Tuesday, April 3rd from 4:00 - 7:00 PM and at church on Wednesday one hour prior to the service. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Owatonna United Methodist Church with Reverend Loren Olson officiating. Inurnment will be in Dania Cemetery in Havana Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Owatonna United Methodist Church, Estral (Eastern Star Scholarships) or American Cancer Society.
