Faye (McColley) Kanne, 87, of Deerfield Township, died Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Methodist Hospital Campus in Rochester.
Faye was born December 28, 1936, in Albert Lea to Erven and Emma (Swenson) McColley. At age 6, the family moved to the Swenson farm in rural New Richland. In 1947, the family moved to their own farm in rural Medford. Faye graduated from Faribault High School in 1954 and worked for Jostens in Owatonna. In September of 1956, she married Harold Kanne and moved to his family farm, where they raised 3 children: Brian, LeAnn, and David. Faye was always one to learn. She taught herself cooking skills, and also how to sew and knit. She was an active member of Blooming Grove United Methodist Church. She made banners, as well as playing the organ and many other church activities. She loved to sing in the choir and with her husband, Harold. She was a 4-H leader for a number of years. Faye was always artistic, and painted most of her life. After her children were grown, Faye worked as a Sales Associate for Pfaltzgraff Co. in the Medford Outlet Shopping Center. Participating in an employee contest, she submitted a plate pattern which was chosen as a winner by the company. A stoneware design based on her drawing was manufactured for a limited time. She enjoyed watching the Twins and the Gophers. She was a loving and involved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Faye is survived by her children; Brian (Carolyn) Kanne of Medford, LeAnn Kanne of Byron, and David (Jennifer) Kanne of Winona; grandchildren Kaitlyn (Zachary) Benson, Joshua Kanne, Samuel Kanne, Deanna Kanne, and Michael Kanne; one great granddaughter, Tess Benson. Also surviving are 2 nieces and 2 nephews.
Besides her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Harold; one sister, Darlene Zander; and one nephew, Larry Kanne.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 10th from 5 pm to 8 pm at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna. The funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 am at Blooming Grove United Methodist Church, with Pastor Kathy King officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. Burial to follow in Blooming Grove Cemetery in Blooming Grove Township, Waseca County. Memorials may be made to the church building fund.
