Florence H. Rye, 95, of Owatonna, died Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna, Minnesota. She was born June 15, 1921 in Owatonna, Minnesota the daughter of Herman and Bertha (Wilker) Ahlers. Florence graduated from Owatonna High School in 1939. She worked as a secretary for Josten's for 15 years. She was united in marriage to O.W. Bill Rye on August 29, 1953 in Owatonna. Florence was a dedicated wife and devoted mother. As her children grew, she served as a 4-H Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother, and volunteered in classroom and fundraising capacities for Owatonna Schools. She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, participating in Circle and teaching Sunday school. Florence also loved to read, sew, and travel with her family. She is survived by her four children, Paul (Linda) Rye of Urbandale, IA, Brenda Rye of Burnsville, MN, Jeff (Shannon) Rye of Fargo, ND, Sarah (Jim) Berggren of Durango, CO; five grandchildren, Marcia (Jeremy) Ziemer of North Liberty, IA, Andy (Amanda) Rye of Ankeny, IA, Brian Rye of Urbandale, IA, Hans Berggren of Anchorage, AK, and Samantha Berggren of Twin Falls, ID; seven great grandchildren, Kimberlee, Kaelynn, Lucy, Dyllan, Jubilee, and Benjamin Rye, and Abigail Ziemer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill, and two brothers, George and Alvin. Visitation will be at St. John Lutheran Church on Monday, October 17, 2016 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Memorial services will be held Monday, October 17, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Owatonna with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Inurnment will be in St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
