Frances Marie Voegele, 85, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Homestead Hospice House. She was born September 14, 1924 in Owatonna, Minnesota the daughter of Eiso and Ova (Wood) Swygman. Frances was raised and attended school in Owatonna graduating from Owatonna High School in 1942. She then worked for Owatonna Tool Company during WWII. Frances was united in marriage to Lawrence "Larry" Voegele of Faribault in January of 1946 in St. Hyacinth's Catholic Rectory. They lived in Faribault for a short while and later returned to Owatonna. She was a homemaker caring for her three children. Larry Voegele died in 1976. Frances continued living at home until December of 2006 when she moved to Countryside Senior Living in Owatonna. Frances loved singing. She was an original member of the Owatonna High School Carolers and later joined the Sweet Adelines. Early on, she sang in the school choir and also was a member of her church choir. She loved being involved with barbershop and sang with friends in a quartet, Just 4 Fun''. Frances and her husband, Larry, enjoyed dancing and spent many evenings in ballrooms at Jewitt's Point in Faribault and the Monterey in Owatonna. She and her husband were well-known for dancing the jitterbug. She also enjoyed playing bingo, cards, and visiting with family and friends. Frances was a loving mother, survived by two sons, David (and Mary Lee) Voegele of LaGrange, KY; Gary Voegele (and his fianc, Margie Durhman) of Faribault; a daughter, Linda (and Lance) Voegele-Allore of North Mankato; and six grandchildren, Julie Voegele, Laura Voegele, MD; Greg Naumann, Brock Allore, Breanna Allore and Kelsey Allore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry (1976), her parents and a sister, Harriet Ganser. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, April 8, 2010 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 9, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with Father Edward McGrath officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to the State School Orphanage Museum.
