Obituary

Fred C. Voth, 73, of Owatonna, died peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, June 3, 2013 at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. He was born March 26, 1940, in Red Wing, Minnesota, the son of Raymond and Elsie (Meyer) Voth. He attended school in Red Wing and graduated Red Wing High School in 1958. He continued his education at Concordia University Chicago in River Forest, Illinois, earning a degree in teaching, and taught for a short time. He married Kay Irwin on June 8, 1963 at the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis. Fred pursued his interest in computers and in 1964 he attended school for computer programming and then worked for North Central Airlines, later known as Republic. In 1984, he went to work for Josten''s as a computer performance manager, and in 1987 the family moved to Owatonna. Fred then worked for The St. Paul Companies in St. Paul for six years. In 2001, he accepted a position as organist at Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna, and retired in 2011. Fred also played the organ and directed choirs at his former congregations for over 40 years. He is survived by his wife Kay Voth of Owatonna; son, Eric (and Cheryl) Voth of Maplewood; daughter, Kristi Voth of Minnetonka; three grandchildren, Laura, Michelle, and Jason Voth; six brothers and sisters, Marcus (and Karen) Voth of Warrenton, VA, Victor (and Sheryl) Voth of Red Wing, Becky Kirtz of Red Wing, Sue Seitzer of St. Peter, Rosalie (and Jerry) Kohn of Red Wing, and Pete Voth of Milton, DE; many nieces and nephews. Fred loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He had a passion for music, especially organ, piano, and choral music. He also enjoyed reading, gardening, and enjoying God''s creation. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Ramona Voth, sister-in-law, Kim Voth, brother-in-law, Dave Seitzer, and niece, Sara Kroll. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, June 6, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 7, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Julie Malone officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church or Homestead Hospice House. Visitation: 06/06/2013 16:00 06/06/2013 20:00 Service: and one hour prior to the service at the church 06/07/2013 11:00
