Obituary

Freda Mae Kroll, 86, of Owatonna, died Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Homestead Hospice House. Freda was born March 16, 1928 in Park Falls, Wisconsin the daughter of Fred and Ellen (Davis) Roman. Her Father died when she was young and the family moved to Minnesota. She was raised in rural Moscow, Minnesota and attended school in Brownsdale. Freda worked as a welder in the shipyards near San Francisco during WWII and later returned to Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Harold Kroll on May 7, 1955 in Iowa. The couple made their home in Owatonna. Freda worked part time at the Village Coffee House in Owatonna and was also a day care provider in her home for over 50 years. To the many children that she cared for, Freda was more referred to as Grandma Freda. With Harold playing in local bands over the years, Freda enjoyed going and listening to him play and also going to dances. One of her hobbies was crocheting and many family members and friends were the recipients of her afghans and other items. Harold and Freda liked going to garage sales and she collected porcelain dolls and collectable dishes over the years. Harold recently died on July 10, 2014 and their time apart was brief. She is survived by two daughters, Ellen Bremer of Tombstone, AZ; June (and Ernie) Valdez of Fort Worth, TX; a sister in law, Evelyn Buelow of Owatonna; 11 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Kroll (2014); her parents, a daughter, Charlene Sanders (2012); a granddaughter, Karen Robinson; and a son-in-law, Gary Bremer (2008). Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with The Reverend Karl Korbel officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Owatonna. Visitation: 08/10/2014 14:00 08/10/2014 17:00 Service: and one hour prior to the service in the church 08/11/2014 11:00
