Gail Jeanne Larson, 66, of rural Claremont, died Friday, December 30, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born November 23, 1950 in Fargo, ND the daughter of Mervin and Georgene (Herbold) Arett. Gail married John Larson exactly 48 years prior to her date of death on December 30, 1968. The couple lived in Alaska for 5 years before moving to their farm in Aurora Township. While in Alaska they operated a cleaning service and she worked as a secretary. After moving to Aurora Township, she continued working as a secretary for St. John Construction, Sahf Construction and for her husband at Larson Trucking & Excavating. Gail also was a daycare provider, operated a cleaning business with her daughter Julie and served as the Aurora Township Clerk.
Gail was very active in Aurora Lutheran Church. Over the years she served as the secretary, custodian, was a Sunday School Teacher and was active with Aurora WELCA. Gail loved spending time with her family and being an active part of her grandchildren's lives. In retirement, Gail enjoyed doing daycare for her youngest grandchildren, Lukas and Evan. She often commented that they kept her young.
She is survived by her husband, John Larson of Claremont; children, Julie (and Mike) Spinler of Blooming Prairie, Rick (and Anissa) Larson of Claremont, Tim (and Susan) Larson of Claremont, Jackie (and Andrew Halla) Larson of Owatonna, Lisa Larson of Claremont; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Mark Arett of Claremont, Bruce (and Shelley) Arett of Byron and cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mervin and Georgene Arett; father and mother in law, J. Stanley and Grace Larson; son, William Larson.
Visitation will be at the Arett Family Farm, 7360 SE 81st St, Claremont on Thursday from 3pm to 7pm and at Aurora Lutheran Church on Friday from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 6, 2017 at 11am at Aurora Lutheran Church with Pastor Stephanie Wood officiating. Interment will be in the Aurora Lutheran Cemetery in Aurora Township.
